One of the worst movie news of the year just arrived: despite the enormous success of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse<\/a>, its sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, has just been indefinitely canceled<\/strong>. This doesn’t mean the movie won’t be released, as it remains a priority for Sony, but its release will be significantly delayed from the original plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason, as expected, is the major strike of actors and writers<\/a> that Hollywood is currently facing<\/strong>. Despite many advanced processes in the development of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, all aspects related to actors’ participation, both for voice acting and motion capture, are impossible to execute under these conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not the only film to be delayed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most anticipated Sony movie will have to wait<\/strong>, and instead of its planned release in 2024, it may not even make it to the screens in 2025. And it’s not the only one affected by the studio. Sony has also announced a ten-month delay for the movie Kraven the Hunter<\/a>, pushing its release to August 30, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Venom 3 is scheduled for July 12, 2024 (yes, before Kraven), and Madame Web is set for February 14, 2024. It seems that Sony will have a pile-up of Spider-Verse-related releases next year<\/strong>, for better or worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the strike, there doesn’t seem to be an early end in sight<\/strong>. The actors’ and writers’ unions continue to clash with the major studios, and the platforms don’t seem to be making any efforts to resolve the situation. As a result, we will be stuck with this indefinite situation for the next few months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
