However, Karate Kid is much more than the tale of this series and Mr. Miyagi.<\/p>\n\n\n

Specifically, in 2010, a movie titled “Karate Kid” was released, which bears little resemblance to the original. Directed by Will Smith<\/a> and starring his son Jaden, it featured a new version of the story but with a similar synopsis and Jackie Chan as the mentor. And although it seemed like that was the end of it, the story will continue with a new movie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jackie Chan returns to Karate Kid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As announced through an official production listing<\/a>, a new Karate Kid film is in the works. In this movie, Jackie Chan will return as Mr. Han<\/strong>, starring alongside Li, a young karate fighter and Beijing student whose world changes when his mother decides they must relocate to the Brooklyn district. The official synopsis of the film is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Li is grappling with a past tragedy and clashing with his doctor mother, who is dealing with the same tragedy but in an entirely different way. While his mother is against violence and Kung Fu, young Li finds purpose in training a boxer on the brink of retirement<\/strong> named Victor, who will learn the martial art and step back into the ring.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We don’t have more information about the production yet, but all signs point to a planned release in 2024<\/strong>. Why? Because next year will mark the 40th anniversary of the release of the first film, and it makes sense for it to serve as a tribute to the original, much like the concluding season of Cobra Kai<\/a> will be.<\/p>\n\n\n
