Disney has dozens of classics to its credit, but none has the level of The Lion King<\/a><\/strong>. Both its animated version and the later one (also animated, although in CGI) were resounding successes in each year they were released<\/strong>, and it continues to be one of the studio’s most important trademarks. So much so, in fact, that a Mufasa <\/a><\/strong>movie directed by Barry Jenkins is in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lion King<\/strong> is an adaptation of Hamlet <\/strong>that, as such, does not stray too far from the original story. However, there are certain details that go unnoticed by the general public\u2026 and that now, little by little, are being discovered. One of them is a mystery that left those of us who saw the original film with many doubts, and that now, at last, has been solved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nala was banished<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The mystery in question is what happens to Nala, Simba’s future wife<\/strong> with whom the lion reconnects when he flees with Timon and Pumba. The film doesn’t explain what Nala is doing so far away from her village; she can’t have gone looking for Simba because she doesn’t even know he’s alive, and it doesn’t make sense for her to be so far away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, this doubt has been solved through an official Lion King product that, however, does not come directly from Disney<\/a><\/strong>: the Broadway musical<\/strong>. In the musical there is a bonus song called The Madness of King Scar, and in these lyrics the answer to this mystery is given: Nala was also banished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three decades later, The Lion King continues to show us new details<\/strong>, thus showing us that it is a story that never ends. We’ll see if Disney takes advantage of all this for the future spin-offs it has in mind about the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
