Amazon <\/strong>once again makes it clear that it’s not interested in the personal well-being of its workers. The company’s CEO, Andy Jassy<\/strong>, wants remote employees to return to the offices, even going so far as to “hint” that if they don’t want to do so, they can leave the company<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

In mid-February, Amazon decided to change its telecommuting policy<\/a>, which had been established during the COVID times and gave teams complete freedom to go to the office or not. The new policy required workers to start coming to the office for a minimum of three days each week <\/strong>starting from May 1st, a change that did not sit well with employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amazon employees, who disagreed with the change, signed a petition<\/a><\/strong> to continue working from home and even organized a strike<\/a><\/strong> to achieve this. Several months later, Amazon continues to show how little it cares about its employees’ opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Business Insider<\/a><\/strong>, which had access to a recording of a meeting <\/strong>where Jassy was present, the CEO of Amazon told his employees, “The time for disagreeing and committing has passed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He concluded the statement by saying, “If you can’t disagree and commit\u2026 it’s probably not going to work for you at Amazon because we’re going to be back in the office at least three days a week.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jassy characterizes the new policy as a “thoughtful decision”<\/strong> and encourages those who don’t want to comply to leave Amazon. “It’s not okay for all of our teammates to be working three days a week and have people not willing to do that,” the CEO stated.<\/p>\n\n\n

After laying off 10,000 employees at the end of last year, Amazon carried out a new round of workforce reduction in March, involving 9,000 employees, even affecting Twitch<\/strong><\/a>, the popular streaming platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
