{"id":250575,"date":"2023-09-24T11:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-24T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sftarticles.wpenginepowered.com\/es\/?p=307240"},"modified":"2025-07-01T18:09:42","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T01:09:42","slug":"bulldozers-alien-killers-in-comic-format-the-extraneous-story-of-killdozer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms-articles.softonic.io\/en\/bulldozers-alien-killers-in-comic-format-the-extraneous-story-of-killdozer\/","title":{"rendered":"Alien killer bulldozers in comic book format: the incredibly strange story of &#8216;Killdozer&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In November 1944, Theodore Sturgeon, one of the most renowned science fiction writers in history, known for, among other things, writing several scripts for &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/so-you-can-watch-star-trek-for-free-on-youtube-we-teach-you-the-trick-to-skip-the-prohibition?ex=RAMP-1114.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Star Trek<\/a>,&#8217; <strong>wrote a story for &#8216;Astounding&#8217; magazine called &#8216;Killdozer.&#8217; <\/strong>Its plot, to say the least, was bizarre: an alien weapon possesses a construction bulldozer, and it starts killing anyone it encounters. In this case, the evil force came from a meteorite rather than an ancient <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/really-some-aliens-have-been-taught-in-full-congress-in-mexico-yes-and-no?ex=RAMP-1114.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alien<\/a> race that once dominated us, as in the original novel. The book is better than the movie, as always.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The TV movie was a notable critical and commercial failure but <strong>has managed to become a cult classic among a certain type of trash-loving audience<\/strong> (among whom, I must admit, I am included). Twelve years later, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/stephen-king-open-to-ai-learning-from-his-books?ex=RAMP-1114.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephen King<\/a> would take the idea to make his only film as a director, the utterly psychedelic &#8216;Maximum Overdrive.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"330\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/wu6d.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-250584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/wu6d.jpg 700w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/wu6d-300x141.jpg 300w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2023\/09\/wu6d-150x71.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Right after the movie, <strong>its corresponding &#8211; and quite unexpected and unnecessary &#8211; comic book adaptation arrived<\/strong> in issue #6 of &#8216;Worlds Unknown.&#8217; On its cover, the bulldozer spoke (&#8220;You dared to defy me\u2026 and now you must die!&#8221;), and it had a fabulous design\u2026 which wasn&#8217;t found within the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/the-great-villain-of-the-marvel-universe-in-cinemas-has-just-become-the-definitive-superhero-in-comics?ex=RAMP-1114.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">comic<\/a>&#8216;s pages itself. It didn&#8217;t speak either. Nor did it have, while we&#8217;re at it, a female character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gerry Conway, a veteran author for both <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/iron-man-marries-us-but-you-cant-imagine-with-who?ex=RAMP-1114.2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marvel<\/a> and DC, best known for his work on &#8216;Spider-Man,&#8217; <strong>scripted this adaptation, which differed completely from its source material, both as a book and as a movie<\/strong>. In fact, they ultimately defeat the killer bulldozer simply by connecting a cable. There&#8217;s nothing like being an expert. The comic has gone down in history as one of the weirdest things to ever receive an adaptation (a loose adaptation of a movie that loosely adapted a short story).
