After over two years of exploring the red planet, the rover&#8217;s navigation cameras recorded a video that <strong>will be invaluable for investigating Mars&#8217; weather patterns<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dust whirlwinds, also present on Earth, form when solar rays heat the ground, <strong>causing convective air uplift<\/strong>. Martian dust clouds can surpass Earth&#8217;s in size, and <strong>their appearance is unpredictable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed-Youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Perseverance rover captures Martian dust devil traveling at 12 mph!\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YIuCEWQUJoM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With a width of 60 meters, the dust whirlwind traveled from east to west at <strong>a speed of about 19 km\/h<\/strong>.
