The company is preparing to deploy its first two satellites, KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2, on their Protoflight mission, scheduled for launch on October 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/spacex-puts-into-orbit-53-satellites-starlink-falcon-9?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">The Kuiper project is Amazon&#8217;s response to SpaceX&#8217;s Starlink service<\/a>. Currently, <strong>their plans involve launching 3,200 satellites over the next six years to form a constellation<\/strong> that can provide Internet connectivity even in remote areas where traditional providers cannot reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Oct. 6 LIVE Broadcast: Atlas V Project Kuiper Protoflight\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HhxpuiOUZIc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Amazon is five years late to the game, but they know what they&#8217;re doing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 mark Amazon&#8217;s first version of satellites and will provide the company with a significant learning opportunity: to see if their Earth-based tests replicate in space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kuiper project&#8217;s ground team will also have the chance to observe how the network functions, as <strong>Protoflight will test the connection of satellites to Kuiper&#8217;s ground network and customer terminals<\/strong>. Moreover, it will serve as a rehearsal for subsequent satellite launch operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon had previously announced its intention to send the first two Kuiper satellites into space aboard a ULA Vulcan Centaur rocket.
