We’ve read hundreds of times that AI will come to take our jobs. The truth is, the rise of this technology fosters the idealization of apocalyptic futures, but Bill Gates<\/strong> has a different view on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n

Recently, the mogul joined the podcast ‘What Now?<\/strong>‘ hosted by Trevor Noah<\/strong>, where he elaborated on artificial intelligence and its uses. Noah asked Gates if he believed AI posed a threat to workers, and his response was quite clear: thanks to AI, we could live in an era where humans “don’t have to work as hard<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Gates, AI represents an opportunity to eliminate more mechanical jobs and also make a three-day workweek possible. Despite the positive aspects, Gates is also aware of the changes that introducing AI into the work environment implies. In Business Insider<\/a>, there’s an excerpt from his blog where he further details his stance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I don’t think the impact of AI will be as dramatic as the Industrial Revolution<\/strong>, but it will be comparable to the introduction of the PC. Word processors didn’t eliminate office work, but they did change it forever [\u2026] entrepreneurs and workers had to adapt, and they did.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gates is not the only entrepreneur predicting the arrival of three-day workweeks. Jamie Dimon<\/strong>, CEO of JPMorgan, told Bloomberg that the next generation of workers will only have to work about three and a half days due to AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is, it’s not hard to imagine the full potential that AI-powered generative models possess. Currently, it’s already possible to see actors speaking in different languages, programming without prior knowledge, or creating songs out of thin air, for instance. Considering this, what will AI bring us in the coming years?<\/p>\n\n\n
