The problem was the following: a player was playing<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assassins-creed-odyssey.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Assassin&#8217;s Creed Odyssey<\/a><\/strong> and an ad popped up when he paused the game. Yes, you&#8217;re reading that right. When he paused the game, the first thing he saw was a pop-up showing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/assassins-creed-mirage.en.softonic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage<\/a><\/strong> and a discount to buy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The video in question spread like wildfire both forums and social networks. Given this interference in the game of a player (and, surely, many more), Ubisoft has come out with a brief statement where he apologizes and<strong> apologizes to all users<\/strong>, but not before putting a<strong> small &#8220;excuse&#8221;<\/strong> about why this happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We have been made aware that some players encountered a pop-up message in-game while playing certain Assassin\u2019s Creed titles yesterday. This was the result of a technical error that has now been fixed.<br><br>Our intention was to display a promotion for Assassin&#39;s Creed Mirage as part\u2026<\/p>&mdash; Assassin&#39;s Creed (@assassinscreed) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/assassinscreed\/status\/1728105025979679011?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We have been informed by some players of a pop-up message found in-game while playing certain Assassin&#8217;s Creed titles. This is due to a <strong>technical error <\/strong>that has already been fixed,&#8221; commented the French company in the tweet published as a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our intention was to <strong>display an Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage <\/strong>promotion as part of the franchise news in the main menu of other Assassin&#8217;s Creed games. Unfortunately, this technical error caused the promotion to appear in one of our in-game menus. We want to ensure the best possible player experience. These annoying pop-up windows were immediately removed once we became aware of the problem,&#8221; Ubisoft stresses. &#8220;We thank you for your understanding while we investigate the cause of the problem.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although Ubisoft points to a &#8220;technical error&#8221;, everything suggests that this advertising was entirely intentional to take advantage of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/black-friday-cyber-monday-gaming-laptop-deals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Black Friday sales <\/a><\/strong>with the new release.
