They started with the Resident Evil 2 Remake in 2019, followed by the RE3 in 2020, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/resident-evil-4-remake-has-a-dlc-beyond-mercenaries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">now in 2023, we&#8217;ve received the RE4 Remake<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A significant part of CAPCOM&#8217;s game release streak included the Resident Evil remakes. <strong>The publisher&#8217;s strategy of bringing back classic survival horror games bore fruit<\/strong> with the critically acclaimed release of Resident Evil 2 in January 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Undoubtedly, fans were in agreement, and <strong>the public purchased over 12.6 million units of the game by June 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Resident Evil 2 \u2013 E3 2018 Announcement Trailer | PS4\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xtxJtQa6VSw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second of the Resident Evil remakes, Resident Evil 3, received a similar reception from players. <strong>While this remake didn&#8217;t sell as much as the previous one, 7.6 million units still undoubtedly mark it as a success<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>And this year, in 2023, fans were able to enjoy the remake of Resident Evil 4<\/strong>. The critical reception remained high, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/we-already-have-a-time-and-a-day-to-find-out-the-nominees-for-the-goty-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">so much so that it&#8217;s a nominee for Game of the Year at The Game Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The future of Remakes\u2026 up in the air?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What will become of the Resident Evil remakes? Will CAPCOM go straight to 5, or will they tackle Code Veronica first? Last year, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi responded &#8220;perhaps&#8221; to the latter question.
