Many might not know the name Ti West<\/strong>, but he’s one of the most important horror directors at the moment<\/strong>. The filmmaker has previously directed works like “The House of the Devil” (2009) or “VHS” (2012), but a few years ago, he signed with A24, the production company behind Ari Aster<\/a>‘s works and also “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” the recent winner at the Oscars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His entry into A24 was grand: signing the trilogy X, Pearl, and MaXXXine\u2014the latter is yet to be released. Now, the first of these movies has just landed on Netflix<\/a><\/strong> and has done so with a bang: sneaking into the top lists and achieving the fame it hadn’t quite attained during its run in international theaters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mia Goth, Jenna Ortega, and other stars<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“X” is a classic slasher that takes us back to 1979<\/strong>, introducing us to a group of young filmmakers traveling to a rural area in Texas to shoot a pornographic film. However, their elderly hosts discover their plans and decide to end their lives before they fall into sin in other ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film was a significant discovery, and undoubtedly, a big part of its success lies in its cast. The two main stars of the movie are Mia Goth as Maxine and Pearl<\/strong>\u2014yes, she plays two roles\u2014and Jenna Ortega<\/a> as Lorraine<\/strong>. Additionally, the film features Brittany Snow, Martin Henderson, Scott Mescudi, and Stephen Ure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond whether you might like the movie or not, my personal recommendation is to give it a chance just to see Pearl, the sequel that came out later<\/strong> and is expected to arrive soon on the streaming platform as well. Undoubtedly, Mia Goth’s performance is something to savor and enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
