Are you a singer looking to get more out of your social media? You’re in luck! TikTok <\/strong>has launched “artist accounts<\/a>” this week. Any musician can activate these accounts, which come with a set of tools designed to help artists <\/strong>reach new fans and increase engagement with existing ones.<\/p>\n\n\n

One of the new features, the Music tab<\/strong>, retains artists’ catalogs and automatically adds new music so fans can more easily discover their compositions. Additionally, features like “Behind the Song<\/strong>” offer fans a glimpse into the artist’s creative process, revealing what inspired the song and the story behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TikTok<\/a> accounts also provide artists with new ways to showcase their work. Musicians can now pin a favorite post at the top of the discovery page<\/strong>. Moreover, the new “Artist” label <\/strong>allows users to verify their musician status.<\/p>\n\n\n

Another label, “New Release<\/strong>,” allows musicians to highlight new songs up to two weeks before their release and 30 days after. Artists can use the label to spotlight new songs in TikTok’s catalog discovery pages<\/strong>. The well-known South Korean group BTS<\/a><\/strong> tested this feature this summer to promote their single ‘Take Two<\/strong>.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many of the new features seem to be inspired by Spotify<\/strong>, reflecting TikTok<\/a>‘s increased focus on music streaming after launching TikTok Music<\/strong>, its subscription streaming service earlier this year. For instance, the Music tab is similar to Spotify’s artist profile tabs. Even the ability to spotlight new music up to 14 days before its release is akin to how Spotify’s countdown pages<\/strong> allow users to preview upcoming albums.<\/p>\n\n\n
