In September of this year, when the two Final Fantasy XVI<\/strong> DLCs were announced<\/a>, it was also revealed that a port of the game for PC was in the works. While everyone knew it was in development, until today, no further details were known<\/strong> about this PC version of the latest installment in the Final Fantasy series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the moment, we don’t know when this PS5 exclusive will be released on PC<\/strong>, nor the technical specifications needed to play it. However, in a recent interview with Famitsu<\/a><\/strong>, producer Naoki Yoshida<\/strong> confirmed at least one thing: you’ll need an SSD<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to the translation by PCGamesN<\/a><\/strong>, Yoshida referred to the PC version by saying, “Details will be announced in due time. However, I would like you to prepare an SSD. Even if we did our best to adjust the GPU, in Final Fantasy XVI, a game where loading speed is crucial, a hard disk drive would be agonizing<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Of course, we will do our utmost to optimize as much as possible,” he continued. “But we cannot overcome the hardware barrier alone, so please consider an SSD as essential<\/strong>. We will announce the exact recommended specifications at another time.”<\/p>\n\n\n

For those unfamiliar with the differences between a hard disk drive (HDD) and a solid-state drive (SSD), SSDs are faster because they read data digitally<\/strong>, greatly facilitating the execution of large-scale video games. However, being superior, they also tend to be more expensive<\/strong> than traditional hard drives, which is why many PCs do not come with one built-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering the graphic intensity of Final Fantasy XVI<\/a>, it’s not surprising that you’ll need an SSD to play it, although this might be disappointing for those wanting to try the game on slightly older systems<\/strong>. Additionally, in the same interview, Yoshida also mentioned that we shouldn’t expect a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XVI<\/strong> (following the tradition of this series).<\/p>\n\n\n
