    These alerts are usually accompanied by a special sound, similar to an alarm, and are enabled by default on iPhones. In some countries, users cannot disable government alerts.     The novelty that iOS 17.2<\/a> brings to this configuration is the “Local Awareness” option for Emergency Alerts. Apple claims that activating this option uses the approximate location of the device to improve the timeliness, accuracy, and reliability of emergency alerts<\/strong>.
