Stephanie Tyler-Jones is 30 years old and, until 2018, she was repeatedly hitting a wall against her dream: to be an actress. Yes, she appeared in well-known movies like ‘Insurgent’, ‘Fast & Furious 7’ or ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2’, but always with a nameless role and without appearing in the credits. That changed when Insomniac discovered that she was perfect for a facial scan and to become the Mary Jane of the ‘Spider-Man‘ games. But, as always, fame had a hidden side.

She does everything an actress does

Oh, surprise, the fandom is the worst part of the entertainment world, once again. By putting their face on ‘Spider-man’ for PS4 and its different iterations (ports, spin-offs and even ‘Spider-man 2’), many have believed that it belonged to them. And that’s why they have called her during her daily work, because being an actress doesn’t pay the bills, leaving her messages that have made her feel uncomfortable. Come on, she doesn’t feel safe and in real life there is no superhero to protect her.

It’s even harder knowing that Jones has already stopped acting: she doesn’t go to auditions, she doesn’t work as a model or actress. On the contrary, she now works in facial care, and asks fans to understand that she has changed careers and the whole ‘Spider-man’ thing is behind her. “My Instagram page is not for Spider-man or MJ fans”, she added.
