During 2023 it has become clear that the Javis are the most important duo of Spanish directors in recent years<\/strong>. Their success with La Mes\u00edas<\/a>, the series from Movistar Plus that became our favorite of last year, has shown that they are a creative force that goes far beyond what we saw in Paquita Salas<\/a>, and now they are not alone in their work.<\/p>\n\n\n

Recently, the Javis have also become producers of projects that they do not directly direct, but that do have their approval. This is the case of Cardo, from Vestidas de azul<\/a> (sequel to Veneno) and now, of a new series that has just been announced for Netflix.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series that no one expected but that we all hope for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After directing Paquita Salas, the Javis return to Netflix with Superestar, a new fiction directed by Nacho Vigalondo<\/a><\/strong>, director of El vecino (also from Netflix), of Our Flag Means Death<\/a> and of international films like Colossal or Open Windows. The filmmaker was even nominated for an Oscar in 2004 for his short film 7:35 in the morning, so it is not insignificant that he has joined the Javis in this project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Superstar focuses on the artistic beginnings of singer Yurena, who became known as Tamara in her early days. Yurena was a true sensation in the 2000s and she rocked it like no one else with her song No cambi\u00e9<\/strong>. But her story is much more than that, and we will soon discover it with the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is nothing we like more than pop and looking back at the history of our country,” explains Javier Calvo. “If there is a wild era where everything was possible, that is the era of ‘tamarismo’<\/strong>, where the most unexpected protagonists monopolized hours and hours of television.”<\/p>\n\n\n
