Meta<\/strong> is reinforcing its data protection measures in Europe to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA)<\/strong>. In the coming weeks, users of Facebook<\/a><\/strong> and Instagram<\/strong> will start receiving notifications asking them to choose how their information is shared across Meta’s different services.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to Meta in a blog post<\/a>, from now on, Facebook and Instagram users will be able to decide whether they want their Messenger and Instagram accounts to share data with Facebook<\/strong>, and if they want Marketplace and games to use their Facebook information.<\/p>\n\n\n

In addition to the above, European users can now access Instagram and Facebook for free with ads (as before), or they have the option to subscribe to remove ads<\/a><\/strong>. If users choose the subscription option to stop seeing ads, their information will not be used for advertising purposes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Meta is focusing on improving the privacy of its users’ data after Facebook was accused last week of actively sharing data about each user with thousands of brands<\/strong>.
