Apple TV+ is seen as the home of science fiction<\/a><\/strong>, and the new series and movies they keep announcing justify it. However, Netflix is not far behind in this battle, and this year they want to turn the tables with series like The Three-Body Problem, the new fiction from the creators of Game of Thrones.<\/p>\n\n\n

But Netflix’s<\/a> strategy doesn’t seem to be going well at all<\/strong>, or at least that’s what their latest cancellation suggests. The streaming platform has just cancelled The mothership<\/strong>, a science fiction movie starring Halle Berry… that had already been filmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An increasingly common practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Just like Warner Bros. Discovery did with the movies Batgirl, Scoob! Holiday Haunt, and Coyote vs ACME, or like Disney did with the recent Crater, Netflix has canceled the movie once it was filmed. As reported in Variety<\/a>, The mothership had been in post-production since 2021<\/strong>, trying to fix issues before being released. But the situation worsened so much that Netflix finally decided to discard it forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This strategy, unfortunately, is becoming more and more common<\/strong> in big studios and platforms, which can save money by not having to spend on distribution but deprives the audience of work that has already been done. Undoubtedly, it is a horror in an increasingly dystopian Hollywood, but let’s hope we are in time to stop it before it becomes a trend.<\/p>\n\n\n
