Spotify argues that this benefits Apple Music, the rival app from the tech company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Why is Apple facing a \u20ac500m fine from EU over music streaming? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Qe6LcNcKuG\">https:\/\/t.co\/Qe6LcNcKuG<\/a><\/p>&mdash; The Guardian (@guardian) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/guardian\/status\/1759677152625033327?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 19, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The EU will not allow monopolistic attitudes like Apple&#8217;s<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The case is the latest example of legal disputes surrounding Apple&#8217;s App Store, a key digital gateway and a source of complaints from companies that use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spotify has long criticized Apple&#8217;s App Store rules, which include a 30% fee for apps and in-app purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, under the pressure of the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), Apple has responded to some of these concerns by announcing that it will allow EU customers to download apps without going through their own store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Apple risks &#039;strong action&#039; in EU over app store | REUTERS\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wgDcDkHZqxs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EU declined to comment.
