In fact, lobbying groups have urged Microsoft to reconsider its plans, but so far without success. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/microsoft-to-stop-selling-windows-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Free support ends in October 2025.\">Free support ends in October 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Take your business to the cloud with ChromeOS\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vhWSV_GZuSk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">That&#8217;s where ChromeFlex appears<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google&#8217;s proposal is that instead of discarding that old hardware, users can load ChromeOS Flex on it. <strong>ChromeOS Flex is a distribution of ChromeOS that can be installed on conventional hardware.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the world of Google, ChromeOS Flex is &#8220;built with security as the first principle, not as a last-minute idea.&#8221; The company claims that it doesn&#8217;t even need antivirus software. Just like a Mac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We remember another company that claimed their products were immune to malware, and things didn&#8217;t go well<\/strong>. However, we are confident that this time things will be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Google also states that IT support costs are reduced, that ChromeOS Flex is flexible, and that the operating system increases productivity and works with existing business applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Google Urges Businesses Still Running Windows 10 PCs to Adopt ChromeOS Flex <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/x1e6U9tla4\">https:\/\/t.co\/x1e6U9tla4<\/a><\/p>&mdash; PCMag (@PCMag) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PCMag\/status\/1760394100946227683?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, there are many caveats. Streaming, of course<\/strong>. Stream those applications to your ChromeOS Flex desktop. A good solution, no doubt, but it will require effort and expenses for those organizations that are not yet running applications that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it is unlikely that Google&#8217;s intervention will lead to a widespread shift to ChromeOS Flex.
