Microsoft has reluctantly acknowledged the unpopularity of the OneDrive service in Windows 11<\/strong>, and although it has not officially announced it (due to the company’s obvious interest in keeping this service), this cloud can finally be disabled in the system without any problem<\/strong>. With this, Windows 11 continues to increase the freedom of users to choose which services they want to have on their PC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OneDrive is Microsoft’s cloud system<\/strong>, and although the company strives for users to use it, the reaction it usually generates is the opposite, increasing the community’s rejection of its services. Therefore, in an exercise of rethinking, Microsoft has chosen the diplomatic route, even if it is in silence, so that users can get rid of OneDrive if they wish<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Windows 11 without OneDrive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As explained by Neowin<\/a>, Microsoft has not provided any notification<\/strong> that you can now disable OneDrive in Windows 11, but the option, nevertheless, already works and can be carried out without any problem. Therefore, it is now possible to enjoy the Windows 11 experience without thinking about the cloud service<\/strong>, which can often be annoying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get rid of OneDrive, you just have to do one thing: unlink the OneDrive service from your Microsoft account<\/strong>. This way, although it won’t be completely eliminated, it will become inactive and stop syncing<\/strong> content without your consent, since there won’t be an account to deposit such content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Windows 11 fails to succeed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than two years have passed since Windows 11 became available<\/strong> as an operating system, but even though a reasonable amount of time has passed for a large number of users to have updated their system<\/strong>, the reality is that Windows 10 still has more than double the number of users<\/a> compared to Windows 11 at present. That is why Microsoft is taking these measures to make their most updated version of the operating system more appealing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, gradually this problem can become more serious, not only for Microsoft, but also for users. The reason: in October 2025<\/strong>, Windows 10 will no longer receive free security updates<\/a>. Therefore, in terms of security, it is highly recommended for users not to remain unprotected and upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible<\/strong>, unless they prefer to opt for open-source software or pay for the security updates<\/strong> that Microsoft will release starting from October 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n
