One day, suddenly, a very catchy melody comes to your mind and you are interested in finding it to listen to it. But there’s a problem: you don’t know its name and you have no idea how to search for it<\/strong>. It’s a quite common situation, and for which YouTube<\/strong>, the popular video platform, created a useful feature, that allows you to search for songs by humming them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Initially added as an experimental feature<\/a>, voice search for songs eventually became available for all Android users in October of last year<\/strong>, allowing us to identify practically any song that comes to mind and exists in YouTube’s extensive library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, this useful feature is also preparing to land on YouTube Music<\/strong>, the music streaming platform from YouTube that was born to compete with Spotify<\/strong> itself. A Reddit<\/strong> user shared<\/a> a few days ago in a post a screenshot where you can see the corresponding button for this search feature, which will appear next to the classic voice search button.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to Android Police<\/a><\/strong>, the music search function by humming is still not available for everyone<\/strong>, having tested different mobile phones with different operating systems. It is most likely that the function is in the testing phase<\/strong> and only a few users can access it. Either way, we will have to wait to see it finally in YouTube Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the YouTube<\/a> app, users can access the hum search feature by tapping on the search bar and then on the voice search button represented by a microphone<\/strong>. After this, you just have to tap on the “Song” button and hum the song for a few seconds for YouTube to show you a series of results. It’s not 100% effective, but it works very well most of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n
