Twitter<\/strong> has announced<\/a> that Kylie McRoberts<\/strong>, a long-time employee of the company, has taken on the role of security manager<\/strong>. Previously, the position was referred to as “trust and safety,” but Elon Musk<\/strong> removed the reference to “trust,” stating that it was a euphemism for censorship (let’s remember that he proclaimed himself a champion of freedom of expression on the Internet).<\/p>\n\n\n

Starting this week, McRoberts will take on the unenviable task of ensuring “peace” in the app<\/strong>, while also following Musk’s directives on what should and should not be moderated<\/strong>, which really means censorship, who can and cannot be restricted, and so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twitter has not had a security officer since June of last year, when the previous head of trust and security, Ella Irwin<\/strong>, resigned<\/a> after Musk questioned her actions in restricting the reach of a controversial anti-trans documentary<\/strong> that had been published on the app.<\/p>\n\n\n

As a curiosity, months after leaving Twitter, Irwin, who had initially defended Musk’s transformation of the app, said that working for Elon had been “the toughest experience I’ve had in my career”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n
