It was a matter of time, but it still hurts. Nintendo has finally shut down the online servers for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, so we can no longer access online multiplayer modes. This also means the death of some titles like the original Super Mario Maker<\/strong>, as it no longer allows us to access levels created by other players.<\/p>\n\n

Both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS were consoles that did not have great popularity at their launch. Only the Nintendo 3DS managed to recover over time thanks to its catalog full of great games, such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds<\/strong> or Super Mario 3D Land<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Wii U did not have as much success as 3DS and did not have the support of the public. Commercially, its performance was mediocre: it barely managed to reach 14 million units sold<\/strong>, a figure that paled in comparison to the 140 million<\/strong> of Wii. In terms of marketing, the public was not clear if it was an extension of Wii or a new console. In addition, it did not have great games at its launch and many of them, like Mario Kart 8,<\/strong> took too long to be released.<\/p>\n\n\n
