Sam Altman,<\/strong> CEO of OpenAI<\/strong>, visited the All-In podcast last Friday and expressed support for regulating artificial intelligence through an international agency. According to Altman, it is very possible that “cutting-edge AI systems are capable of causing significant global harm.”<\/p>\n\n\n

For the CEO, these systems will have “a negative impact far beyond the scope of a single country.” And he believes that they should be regulated<\/strong> by an “international agency that studies the most powerful systems” to ensure that they undergo “reasonable security tests<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Business Insider<\/a>, Altman argues that an international agency would offer greater flexibility<\/strong> when it comes to regulating AI than national legislations. The speed<\/strong> at which artificial intelligence evolves is one of the reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 13th, the European Parliament gave the green light to the Artificial Intelligence Law that would serve to, for example, prohibit<\/strong> certain AI practices and apply transparency rules<\/strong> for such systems. The rules will be applied starting from May 2025<\/strong> and each member state must create its own national supervisory agency.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
