Google<\/strong> has announced the closing date of its VPN service within Google One<\/strong>. The company confirmed in mid-April that it would discontinue the VPN it offered to its subscribers “by the end of this year”<\/a>. Now, Google has provided a specific date: June 20, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

According to 9to5Google<\/a><\/strong>, a new banner in the Google One app for Android indicates the discontinuation of the free VPN service in early summer. Google advises macOS and Windows users to uninstall the app, while Android and iPhone users should disable the VPN from the Benefits section of the app before removing the VPN profile in Settings.<\/p>\n\n\n

Google has stated that it will redirect resources towards improving other Google One features<\/strong>, justifying the closure due to low usage of the service. However, users of Pixel 7 or later will continue to enjoy free access to VPN<\/strong>, as they will switch to an integrated VPN service. This transition will be done through a system update scheduled for June 3rd of this year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the discontinuation of the free VPN service, Google will not modify its pricing structure for Google One<\/strong>, keeping the same rates for users.<\/p>\n\n\n
