On June 6, 1993, ‘The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening’<\/a> was released in Japanese stores, one of the games that would ultimately define not only Game Boy but also the Link saga in general. It was a game that found its foundation in ‘A link to the past’ but also in the series ‘Twin Peaks’. Or at least, that’s what we’ve been told for decades. The truth is that there is a game that has been hidden for three decades, it has just been released on the Japanese Switch<\/strong> and it is a very curious missing link.<\/p>\n\n\n

If I tell you ‘Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru’, unless you are die-hard Nintendo fans, it is most likely that you do not know what I am referring to. However, this game that was released on September 14, 1992 in Japan for Game Boy and that could be translated as ‘The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls’ has an unprecedented connection with the ‘Zelda<\/a>‘ saga.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, it is so vital that ‘Link’s Awakening’ was built directly on top of this other game<\/strong>. They are not only similar in appearance: some sprites and characters were used as a tribute from one to the other. For example, Prince Richard, who asks for your help in finding his five golden leaves, is the best friend of the protagonist of ‘Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru’ and even the game’s soundtrack plays when you enter his house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
