The reason: the <strong>training process<\/strong> that their AI has undergone has been carried out by <strong>collecting information from Slack users<\/strong> without their consent. This, being <strong>a hidden notice that could have gone completely unnoticed<\/strong>, generated numerous criticisms from its community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Slack, on the other hand, wanted to make it clear that, although the company is using user data to <strong>train its AI-based systems<\/strong>, anyone can contact the company to request on a personal level <strong>that their data not be used<\/strong> for the training of these systems that apply <em>machine learning<\/em> to become more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hello from Slack! That is why the company has preferred to <strong>take all the relevant shortcuts<\/strong>, including the use of information from its users without having consulted them beforehand. Users can still choose to refuse the use of their data, but the notice, for many users, <strong>comes late and secretly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legally, it is a problem that <strong>another company like OpenAI<\/strong> has already gone through, and they have solved it through the <strong>creation of codes of good practices<\/strong>. Since it is not an illegal act in itself, but negative in terms of public opinion, Slack will have to consider <strong>how to address this issue in the short term<\/strong>.
