You adjust how long they are stored for and how much drive space to dedicate<br>\u27a1\ufe0f Runs\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5KWIbzWoPH\">pic.twitter.com\/5KWIbzWoPH<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Joanna Stern (@JoannaStern) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoannaStern\/status\/1793006202093232318?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 21, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The feature will allow users to open the snapshot in the original application in which it was created.<\/strong> As the feature is perfected over time, Recall will open the actual source document, website, or email in a screenshot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is Recall a privacy issue for users?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although some have expressed concern that this feature poses privacy risks and have compared it to a &#8220;spy program&#8221;, <strong>Microsoft claims that all snapshots taken by Recall will be encrypted and stored locally on the user&#8217;s PC.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users can choose to <strong>delete snapshots of certain items and adjust\/remove timelines of their work through the settings.<\/strong> Users can also filter apps and websites to prevent them from being saved, reducing the risk of the feature tracking confidential information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">THIS is the company that wants to record literally everything you ever do on your computer. <br><br>(Report is re an attack last year.)<br><br>If you don\u2019t think Microsoft Recall, local or no, will be one of the biggest cybertargets in history, you aren\u2019t paying attention. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7xWEp3Amjd\">pic.twitter.com\/7xWEp3Amjd<\/a><\/p>&mdash; the company explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">United Kingdom is investigating the legality of Microsoft Recall for users<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cpwwqp6nx14o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"a report from the BBC\">a report from the BBC<\/a>, the United Kingdom&#8217;s Information Commissioner&#8217;s Office (ICO) is conducting an investigation into the retrieval function to gather more information about the safeguards that Microsoft has put in place to ensure user privacy when using this feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A spokesperson for the ICO has told the BBC that companies must &#8220;thoroughly assess and mitigate the risks to individuals&#8217;
