Without it, the JRPG as we know it probably wouldn&#8217;t exist. That&#8217;s why, <strong>even if it doesn&#8217;t have the absolutely massive dimension in the West that it has in Japan, Dragon Quest still has a capital importance<\/strong>. And not only because <a href=\"https:\/\/en.softonic.com\/articles\/akira-toriyama-beyond-dragon-ball-the-best-works-of-the-japanese-genius\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the monster and character designs were made by Akira Toriyama<\/a>. Something that is demonstrated in how Square Enix is managing the thirtieth anniversary of the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May 2021, Square Enix confirmed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.videogameschronicle.com\/news\/five-new-dragon-quest-games-have-been-announced-including-dragon-quest-xii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">they were working on five different Dragon Quest games<\/a>. In addition to the obvious, a new installment of the main franchise, they also stated that they were working on a more special project. More unexpected. <strong>A remake of Dragon Quest 3, which would also have a different, very particular aesthetic that has worked very well among the public<\/strong>. Something that seems to have been confirmed, precisely, for the 28th anniversary of the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The legend of Erdrick draws near.<br> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DragonQuestDay?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DragonQuestDay<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DQDay?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DQDay<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DragonQuest?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DragonQuest<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KFtqhVY61q\">pic.twitter.com\/KFtqhVY61q<\/a><\/p>&mdash; DRAGON QUEST (@DragonQuest) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DragonQuest\/status\/1794987069531476347?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 27, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first Dragon Quest was released on May 27, 1986 and, 28 years later, a small teaser of what is to come has been released. <strong>Under the text &#8220;The legend of Erdrick is near&#8221;, the logo of Dragon Quest 3 is shown along with an unexpected logo: HD-2D<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As already discussed in 2021, <strong>this remake would be in the HD-2D style like other recent Square Enix JRPGs. Games like Octopath Traveler, Triangle Strategy, or the Live-A-Live remake<\/strong>, which aim to give a diorama-like appearance to the whole. An artistic style that would fit perfectly with Dragon Quest, and especially the third installment of the franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it doesn&#8217;t have a specific release date yet, they have already announced which consoles it will be available on. The interesting thing is that it will be a game that skips the previous generation of consoles. <strong>Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC<\/strong>.
