The director of Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game has been killing it on Netflix for years with impressive horror series like Midnight Mass or The Haunting of Hill House<\/a>, and now he’s about to make a comeback to the big screen with an equally interesting proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n

As just announced, Flanagan has returned to Blumhouse production company to produce and direct a new movie of The Exorcist<\/strong>. The filmmaker will readapt the classic in a unique way, as announced. In this way, he will not follow the latest sequel of the saga, The Exorcist: Believer<\/a>, and it will serve as a completely independent film, allowing him to reinvent it as much as he wants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting up with my friends at Blumhouse, with whom I have made some of my favorite works, only makes this more exciting,” the director declared in Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president and CEO of Morgan Creek, David Robinson, has also spoken about the project, making it clear that the film is in good hands with Mike Flanagan: “It is an honor to work with Mike. I believe his vision for this franchise is going to surprise audiences worldwide<\/strong>, and I couldn’t be more excited to work with him, Trevor, Jason, and the entire Blumhouse team.”<\/p>\n\n\n

With this new version of The Exorcist, Mike Flanagan<\/a> will have a total of four collaborations with Blumhouse<\/strong>, as he has previously directed Oculus (2013), Hush (2016), and Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) for the studio. It was Flanagan’s leap to the forefront of horror, and now it is confirmed again with this feature film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
