The final installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy is just around the corner, so to speak. And there are already some who are thinking that, in the wake of its success, Square Enix will begin to do the same with their old hits, expanding and improving them.<\/strong> In fact, it may be time for a game that was not fully understood at the time but has gained a cult following: Final Fantasy IX.<\/p>\n\n\n

Between moguris and chocobos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to Midori, a regular in gaming rumors, the word is that not only is it set to be released in 2025, but we’ll also be seeing it during the next Xbox news presentation on Sunday, June 9th<\/strong>. For now, although nothing official is known, it’s been hinted that IX will be more traditional, or at least without the same degree of novelty and inventiveness found in the Final Fantasy VII Remake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New updated graphics, remodeled characters, new dialogue lines… but within the same story and character style. Maybe there will be a big surprise and they’ll announce four different games from the saga, but it seems right now that this isn’t the case. When the Xbox Showcase comes around, we’ll have to see if this is all real or just smoke and mirrors<\/strong>. Is this a rumor with a foundation, or did the project disappear among the layoffs at Square Enix?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Final Fantasy IX remake is still in development. It is a title that was not cancelled in the restructure of SQEX during this fiscal year.
