{"id":287390,"date":"2024-08-22T11:41:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T09:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sftarticles.wpenginepowered.com\/es\/?p=338937"},"modified":"2025-07-01T16:02:07","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T23:02:07","slug":"francis-ford-coppola-teases-hollywood-with-the-new-trailer-of-megalopolis-but-it-backfires-on-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms-articles.softonic.io\/en\/francis-ford-coppola-teases-hollywood-with-the-new-trailer-of-megalopolis-but-it-backfires-on-him\/","title":{"rendered":"Francis Ford Coppola teases Hollywood with the new trailer of Megalopolis&#8230; but it backfires on him"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The advertising gurus say that the important thing is that they talk about you<\/strong>, whether it&#8217;s good or bad, and that&#8217;s something that Francis Ford Coppola seems to have applied perfectly for the promotion of his next film. <strong>Megalopolis arrived with a big announcement that promised a story on par with the filmmaker&#8217;s great hits<\/strong>, such as The Godfather or Apocalypse Now, but its presence at the Cannes Film Festival was mediocre&#8230; and the accusations against the director of excessive behavior on set didn&#8217;t help, either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, Lionsgate has wanted to take all the bad reviews and turn the tables, and <strong>they have released a new trailer for the film in which they compare everything that has been said about this movie<\/strong> with the reviews that the likes of The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, or Bram Stoker&#8217;s Dracula received at the time. And, without a doubt, the trailer is a joke worthy of the circumstances:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Megalopolis - Official Trailer (2024) Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NA5ydinNXiE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A foretold failure?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, the effect has not been as they intended. Through social media, <strong>users have been pointing out that those criticisms are false or taken from comments on other movies that have nothing to do with the ones mentioned&#8230;<\/strong> which has led to the removal of the video from their official channels. But the question is: did they already know this beforehand and just wanted to make noise&#8230; or did they really have no idea about the subject?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/image.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-338939\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In any case, Megalopolis will arrive in theaters on September 27th, and despite everything pointing to a blatant failure for Coppola&#8217;s latest film, the distributor is desperately clinging to hope in order to make the movie at least somewhat successful. <strong>At the very least, they hope to recoup the $120 million it cost to make<\/strong> (all out of Coppola&#8217;s pocket)&#8230; but it doesn&#8217;t seem like that&#8217;s going to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/2\/2024\/08\/image-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-338940\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The advertising gurus say that the important thing is that they talk about you, whether it&#8217;s good or bad, and that&#8217;s something that Francis Ford Coppola seems to have applied perfectly for the promotion of his next film.
