Google<\/strong> has confirmed the launch of Lite<\/strong>, the new low-cost subscription plan for the Google One<\/strong> service, in India, Brazil, Mexico, and Indonesia. Although Google One Lite was originally launched only in India<\/strong>, Android Authority<\/strong><\/a> reported that a select group of users in Brazil, Mexico, and Indonesia have had access to this cheaper plan for a few days now.<\/p>\n\n\n

On September 10, Android Authority reported that Google had begun rolling out the Google One Lite plan in India. This tier offers 30 GB of storage for Google Photos, Google Drive, and Gmail at a price of 59 rupees per month<\/strong>. This amount is approximately $0.70, which is considerably cheaper than the “Basic” option of Google One with 100 GB, which costs $2 per month. However, the Lite plan does not include other features, such as the ability to share storage with family members<\/strong>, an advantage that Apple does offer with its iCloud+ plan of 50 GB for $1 per month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after, it was revealed that users in India who opt for Google One Lite can get a discount if they purchase an annual subscription<\/strong>, which reduces the total price by 16%. However, many choose the monthly subscription due to its low initial cost, an option clearly aimed at users with a tighter budget.<\/p>\n\n\n

Google One Lite was first discovered in July, when references to the plan were found in the code of the Google Photos app<\/strong><\/a>. A few days ago, Google began testing the plan in India, and now it is expanding to more markets, although only to a fairly limited selection of countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For now, the company has not confirmed whether it will extend this offer to other territories<\/strong>, nor the prices it would have in the United States, Europe, and other regions if it finally does, but it states that it will evaluate customer response before making decisions in this regard.<\/p>\n\n\n
