Joker: Folie à Deux, the anticipated sequel to Joker once again directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix alongside Lady Gaga, is aiming for big box office numbers that pose a significant challenge for the feature film. Scheduled to be released on October 4th, Joker 2 aims to debut with $140 million in its first weekend worldwide, as reported by Discussing Film. Although this figure seems very high, it is actually far from the $250 million that Joker achieved in its global debut in 2019.

The budget for Joker 2 is a noteworthy detail: the production has cost 200 million, about four times more than the first movie. This considerable increase in budget reflects the ambition of the project, but it also creates expectations that it will need to maintain strong box office earnings beyond its opening weekend to recoup the investment and be a financial success.
