Last year, he described warnings that the technology was a threat to humanity as &#8220;ridiculous,&#8221; and he reiterated his words to the Wall Street Journal last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;You&#8217;ll have to excuse me, but that&#8217;s complete nonsense,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/yann-lecun-ai-meta-aa59e2f5?mod=tech_lead_story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"he stated to the newspaper\">he stated to the newspaper<\/a>, when asked if AI would become intelligent enough to pose a threat to humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Cats \u201chave a mental model of the physical world, persistent memory, some reasoning ability and a capacity for planning.
