The popularization of TikTok has led many users to question whether the app is harmful to the mental health of its users. Now, the public radio of the United States has accessed internal documents<\/strong> of the company that confirm this abundantly. <\/p>\n\n\n

This confidential material was part of an investigation that had been ongoing for more than two years and was prompted by 14 attorneys general. The results of this investigation led officials to sue the company last Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The data revealed by these documents leaves no room for doubt: TikTok knows how to hook its users very well. Specifically, the platform calculates that it is necessary to watch 260 videos<\/strong> to get hooked on the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among other findings, the company itself is aware that excessive use of its application can be harmful to younger users. However, they care very little about this. According to these documents, TikTok introduced moderation tools that, internally, they knew were useless<\/strong> but provided them with good press externally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something quite shocking, especially considering that the majority of underage American users (97%) have a profile created on the platform. As if that weren’t enough, TikTok is aware that the moderation filters are not up to par. On many occasions, prohibited content remains available, even if it is not made very visible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
