For example, a Twitter user <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OliNorwell\/status\/1853518055672078592\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">responded<\/a> the following to the company&#8217;s post: &#8220;It&#8217;s your economic model that competes against other economic models, why would you make it less competitive?&#8221; <strong>Mckay Wrigley<\/strong>, developer of <strong>TakeOffAI<\/strong>, also commented on the social network that the price increase could generate backlash, and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mckaywrigley\/status\/1853521086643949929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">suggested<\/a> that the company simply &#8220;say it&#8217;s more expensive&#8221; without trying to justify it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Claude 3.5 Haiku now costs <strong>$1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens<\/strong>, compared to the 25 cents and $1.25 of the previous version. This makes it a more expensive alternative than some low-cost models on the market, such as Google&#8217;s <strong>Gemini 1.5 Flash<\/strong> or OpenAI&#8217;s <strong>GPT-4o mini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Claude | Computer use for automating operations\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ODaHJzOyVCQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/ai\/2024\/11\/anthropic-raises-eyebrows-with-haiku-price-hike-citing-increased-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">Ars Technica<\/a>, researcher <strong>Simon Willison<\/strong> noted the disappearance of Claude 3.5 Opus and the price increase of Haiku since its launch. Willison stated that <strong>Anthropic might be opting to make their advanced models more exclusive<\/strong>, although the price difference with other economical options remains notable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, although Claude 3.5 Haiku offers longer texts and more recent training data, <strong>the new model no longer supports image analysis<\/strong>, a feature widely used in previous versions. According to <strong>Alex Albert<\/strong> from Anthropic, <strong>the previous model will remain available for those who need these functionalities and a more economical price<\/strong>.
