Google<\/strong> plans a radical change in its operating systems. According to Android Authority<\/strong><\/a>, the company will completely migrate ChromeOS to Android<\/strong>, seeking greater efficiency in development and, above all, better positioning against the iPad<\/strong>. Although Google had already announced that ChromeOS would adopt components of Android technology, internal sources consulted by the media assure that the company is working on a multi-year project to completely convert ChromeOS into Android.<\/p>\n\n\n

The main problem for Google lies in the high-end tablet market, where Apple dominates without real competition<\/strong>. Although Android and ChromeOS have succeeded in different sectors, both have failed to challenge the iPad. Google now intends to create a platform that combines the best of both systems. The goal is not to launch a new operating system, but to make future Chromebooks use Android<\/strong>, possibly with an adapted desktop version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This decision reflects the strengths and weaknesses of both systems. While Android works better for multimedia consumption devices like tablets or smartwatches, ChromeOS is more suited to productivity on laptops. However, neither has successfully integrated the advantages of the other<\/strong>. Currently, Google is developing specific features, such as improved support for keyboard, mouse, and external monitors, which will arrive with Android 15<\/strong>, a significant step in the convergence of these platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n

As if that weren’t enough, the company plans to launch tools such as a new Chrome browser for Android with support for extensions and a Linux terminal for the same operating system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the lack of official confirmation, Google’s plan aims to unify efforts and compete more effectively with Apple<\/strong>. With the possible Pixel Laptop<\/strong> as an example of this new approach, the company seems determined to shake up the market.<\/p>\n\n\n
