The adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude is already a success on Netflix<\/a><\/strong>, and Rodrigo Garc\u00eda Barcha, son of the Colombian Nobel Prize winner Gabriel Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez, has shared the only recommendation to enjoy it: watch it as an independent project from the book. “It is a different experience, and you have to try to appreciate it for what it is<\/strong>“, he states in various statements collected by Hola<\/a>, and suggests avoiding constant comparisons between the series and the original work.<\/p>\n\n\n

Rodrigo, along with his brother Gonzalo, worked as an executive producer of this ambitious series that seeks to respect the essence of Macondo while adapting the magic of the book to the audiovisual language. For decades, Garc\u00eda M\u00e1rquez<\/a> rejected proposals to bring the novel to the cinema<\/strong>, concerned about the limitations of time, budget, and cultural authenticity. However, the writer’s heirs imposed three key conditions to approve the series: to film it in Spanish, in Colombia, and with a predominantly Latin American cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
