With good reason. From Remedy Entertainment, they demonstrated that they have everything necessary to succeed with one of the biggest horror games of recent years. Visually spectacular, narratively exceptional, and gameplay-wise brilliant, it left us wanting more. More Alan Wake, but more of its universe in general. And it seems that it’s something we won’t have the chance to be left wanting more of.

We have only seen the beginning of the Alan Wake and Control universe

In an interview with IGN, Sam Lake, the creative director of Remedy, mentioned that the studio has “just begun” to establish the connection of a shared universe between its games. Saying that it is still “too early to talk about an end”.

Why is this? Because at least Alan Wake and Control share a common universe, with hints suggesting that at least Quantum Break would also be part of the same continuity. It all started with the AWE DLC of Control, which connected the game with the events of Alan Wake, and has been developed even more explicitly with the latest DLC of Alan Wake 2. Something that, according to Lake’s own words, will continue to be developed in the future.

In fact, it is something that is expected to continue developing in the near future. With Control 2 in development and with FBC: Firebreak, a cooperative multiplayer game set in the same universe with a planned release for 2025, it is expected that we will continue to see how this universe develops over the coming years. Although Lake has not given more concrete details about what we can expect to see, beyond that it will continue to develop through the already announced titles and others yet to be announced.

If we add to this that Alan Wake 3 is on the horizon, but a very distant horizon, it seems we have stories in the universe of Alan Wake and Control for many years. And we are glad about that.
