All these devices, <strong>as long as they use a cable to recharge and operate with a power of up to 100 watts<\/strong>, must include a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.softonic.com\/articulos\/uk-quiere-imitar-a-europa-adoptando-el-usb-c\" title=\"\">USB-C<\/a> port. Additionally, <strong>consumers will have the option not to receive an additional charger when purchasing a new device<\/strong>, a measure aimed at simplifying the market and reducing electronic waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/next\/2024\/12\/27\/new-eu-rules-on-common-usb-c-chargers-for-electronics-to-come-into-force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\"><strong>Euro News<\/strong><\/a>, laptop manufacturers will have <strong>until April 28, 2026, to comply with this requirement<\/strong>. The measure, approved by the European Parliament and member states in 2022, aims primarily to combat waste generated by chargers and save European households about 250 million euros annually. <strong>Anna Cavazzini<\/strong>, Chair of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, stated that these rules will allow &#8220;addressing the tons of waste generated by discarded chargers each year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/2\/2023\/09\/USB-C.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-346405\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The impact of the measure has been significant for <strong>Apple<\/strong>, as <strong>its Lightning port will become obsolete in Europe<\/strong>. iPhones sold from December 28, 2024, including older models, must incorporate USB-C.
