How will fans of The Witcher react to the original witcher, Geralt, stepping aside for his adoptive daughter? For now, his voice actor has given the green light. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Ciri, Geralt of Rivia’s adoptive daughter, will be the new protagonist in The Witcher 4, a decision that, according to the studio, was made a long time ago. This choice has been met with enthusiasm, even by Doug Cockle, the voice actor of Geralt, who believes that focusing on Ciri is a smart and exciting move for various reasons, mainly because of how her story is developed in Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels.

In a recent interview, Cockle expressed his enthusiasm stating: “I think it’s a really good move. I always thought that continuing the saga, but switching to Ciri is an interesting decision for many reasons, especially because of what happens in the books”. His comment resonates with the vision of the narrative director, Phillipp Weber, who emphasized that the decision was a natural evolution of the world they have been creating for a long time.

The Witcher 4 will also feature a map similar in size to The Witcher 3, despite the introduction of new regions, which promises to maintain the scale and exploration that fans love. However, details about the game’s release have not yet been made public, as CD Projekt Red has not provided a specific release window for this anticipated title.
