Netflix has decided to conclude its successful live-action of The Witcher after the fifth season, where it is expected that the plots based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski will be wrapped up<\/strong>. This decision comes after six years of production and a series of related projects that include a couple of animated movies and a prequel that did not come to fruition.<\/p>\n\n

The New Geralt<\/h2>\n\n\n

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, showrunner of the series, confirmed in statements to SFX Magazine that the decision to end the main series was made after deep reflection. We are convinced that we have done the right thing here, but that doesn’t mean we are finished with the entire narrative of The Witcher universe<\/em>, indicated Hissrich,<\/strong> opening the door to future content. However, the continuity of these projects will depend on the commercial performance of the first season, which underscores the importance of audience interest.<\/p>\n\n\n

Among the new developments, an animated film titled The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep was announced, which will premiere on February 11<\/strong>. This new project follows Geralt of Rivia as he investigates a series of attacks in a coastal village, while getting caught in an ancient conflict between humans and sirens. The story is inspired by the tale A Little Sacrifice, suggesting that the world of The Witcher will continue to explore its deep literary roots.<\/p>\n\n\n
