Cable thefts at charging stations for electric vehicles have become a growing problem that affects the reliability and availability of these infrastructures.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

This issue not only impacts Tesla, which operates a considerable number of supercharging stations, but also affects all charger operators, complicating accessibility and increasing prices for electric vehicle users.<\/p>\n\n\n

To tackle this challenge, Tesla has begun testing creative solutions at its Supercharger stations. One of them includes a coating called DyeDefender, which wraps around the charging cables.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Hundreds of charging cables have been cut in Alberta in recent months.
Tesla has started to replace cut cables in the US with these vandal resistant cables. It\u2019s unclear if these are also cut \u2018proof\u2019 but they apparently have dye meant to dissuade vandalism.
