The reference to a $400 million order for bulletproof Tesla vehicles may have disappeared, but the controversy remains.<\/p>\n\n\n

On Wednesday, a line item in the procurement budget of the U.S. State Department that listed the $400 million order to Tesla<\/strong> saw the automaker’s name removed following news that CEO Elon Musk was on the list to benefit from a large contract awarded by the federal government. Instead, there is now a generic reference to “armored electric vehicles.”<\/p>\n\n\n
