Despite its success, the film has been the subject of comparisons with iconic action movie sagas like John Wick and Kill Bill. However, critics agree that Oni-Goroshi is on a lower level in terms of narrative and depth of its universe. Despite this, the film offers a brutal and violent spectacle that, at least in its first hour, manages to capture the viewer’s attention thanks to its direct and realistic approach.

The direction of Seiji Tanaka, along with a script that does away with subtleties, presents uncensored action scenes that will attract fans of this type of content. However, some critics point out that the film falters by incorporating fantastical elements that do not add enough value to the overall plot, causing it to lose strength in the second half.
