This mode, when enabled, removes all romantic interactions, allowing players who prefer to focus on the main narrative to enjoy without distractions.

There are those who do not like romance in video games

The romance mechanics in Shadows are diverse, including the possibility for Yasuke and Naoe to explore connections with characters of different genders, as well as with a non-binary character. However, the inclusion of these options has received criticism from some sectors on the internet, who believe that diversity in relationships is unnecessary. In response, Ubisoft has reminded that all romantic interactions are optional and that players have total control over their gaming experience.

Ubisoft’s words on the matter are clear: “Let’s remember the fourth principle of the Creed: flirting in role-playing games is always optional.” In this regard, the developers emphasize that the main focus of video games is fun, and romantic relationships are just one of the many facets that some players enjoy. For those who are not interested in romantic content, they can simply play with the Canon mode active, which completely removes flirting options and related dialogue choices.

At the end of the day, the new installment of Assassin’s Creed aims to provide an enriching experience through multiple elements, including its narrative and customization options, without forcing anyone to engage in aspects that do not interest them. With elements of diversity and the freedom of choice always present, Ubisoft continues to demonstrate its commitment to inclusive entertainment in video games. And it seems that this is proving to be very beneficial for them in terms of sales.

        Steam
        DOWNLOAD

        <text class="rating-score__number" content="" text-anchor="middle" transform="matrix(1 0 0 1 25 31.0837)" data-auto="app-user-score"></text>

The long-awaited Ubisoft title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is now available and has generated considerable conversation around its optional romance features.
