Cruise, looking to diversify his career, preferred to face new challenges instead of repeating his iconic role as Maverick<\/strong>. \u201cThey really wanted me to do Top Gun over and over again. But I wanted to develop my talent in different areas,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tom Cruise preferred to take on other challenges in his career<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>After evading the pressures of the studio, Cruise delved into a variety of critically impactful projects, such as A Few Good Men, Interview with the Vampire, and Jerry Maguire. <strong>It was not until nearly 30 years later that he reprised the role of Pete &#8216;Maverick&#8217; Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel that became a major box office success in 2022<\/strong>.
