In this version, Windows users will gain support for <strong>GPU-accelerated video decoding<\/strong> for better performance and battery life (up to 25% better). Users will also get the controversial &#8220;<strong>Do Not Track<\/strong>&#8221; feature, which opts users out of <a title=\"ios targeted advertising opt out\" href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/ios-6-allows-users-to-opt-out-of-targeted-advertising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">targeted advertising<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Do Not Track is <strong>opt-in only<\/strong>, there are many advertising companies that feel Do Not Track will provide a sub-par user experience.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s how to update and turn on Do Not Track.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-30563\" title=\"update google chrome\" src=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/sft\/articles\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/11\/11-6-2012-2-37-09-PM.png\" alt=\"update google chrome\" width=\"600\" height=\"357\" srcset=\"https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/11\/11-6-2012-2-37-09-PM.png 600w, https:\/\/articles-img.sftcdn.net\/auto-mapping-folder\/sites\/3\/2012\/11\/11-6-2012-2-37-09-PM-300x178.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chrome usually automatically updates but if you want to force it to update, click on the &#8216;menu&#8217; button in Chrome and then hit &#8216;About Google Chrome.&#8217; A new tab will open up and Chrome will automatically begin checking for updates. If you&#8217;re running an older version, an update should start downloading. Under &#8216;Privacy,&#8217; you&#8217;ll see a check box to enable Do Not Track.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s understandable that many advertisers are upset about browsers like <a title=\"Internet explorer 10\" href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/internet-explorer-10-platform-preview-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Internet Explorer<\/a> and <a title=\"google chrome\" href=\"http:\/\/onsoftware.en.softonic.com\/b\/google-chrome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google Chrome<\/a> supporting Do Not Track, it&#8217;s up to the consumer to decide whether he or she would like advertising that tracks and provides <strong>relevant <\/strong><strong>ads <\/strong>to his or her interests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Google released its latest stable version of the Chrome browser, version 23.
